I started swimming classes at a young age of 6. I also went on to be on a swim team with my best friend. I only did swim team for two years. I enjoyed it. I did all the different type of strokes. My favorite was the breast stroke.
Swimming was a great sport for me. It helped my strengthing as well as balance but more importantly the coordination of my balance.
I remember looking at my arm strokes and seeing that my left side (the affected side) would not fully be able to do the same stroke as my right side. However; I was doing and learning and being a member of the team or the swim class. I was doing it and making a pathway for a future to allow me to be a survivor.
Advice: I did it. I think that if you are thinking of swim class or swim team, you should do it! I had a great time and still have some of the ribbons I won. More importantly, the coordination and balance that the swimming was provided was priceless.
